About the Online Jeanie

Jean Cannon is the Online Jeanie.  In 2004 she realised that if she was going to continue working as a sustainability and environmental consultant and be environmenally sustainable herself, she needed to reduce her almost weekly air travel.   At the same time, some of her widely scattered clients asked  if they could work with her online.

Of course she said yes. What an answer to the problem she thought until she started trying to find out how to do it. People offered to “do it for her” for 6 figure numbers or else she enrolled in a plethora of courses that all cost money and took time but none gave her the whole story.

She did spend the six figure dollars and took two years learning how to do what she does now.

She has been successfully running her consultancy and training online for the past three years. She no longer flies somewhere every week and works with a wide variety of fascinating people around the world.

When she broke her back in 2008 as the result of a bus accident when she was thrown several metres without a landing plan, she was able to keep working and her clients did not know she was injured and in pain so although she had less energy for marketing and no networking, she kept the business going online.

And since then I has had major industry awards for her online training. She actually turned up to receive one Award for Distance Learning/eLearning, wearing a brace while her back was broken.

This is real sustainability and Online Jeanie is where Jean teaches other business people to do what she has done put their business online with her practical and onon-geeky help.

Jean is an internationally recognised environmental scientist and marine biologist. She is the author of 3 books on the environment, has authored a number of business articles and scientific papers, and has presented at conferences and seminars in Europe, the USA and Japan

Jean has won numerous industry awards for her work with businesses, including 2008 FarmBis Award for Distance Learning/eLearning and 2007 Seafood Industry Training Provider of the Year Award as well as being a finalist in the 2001 Telstra Business Women’s Award. She pioneered a number of new approaches to environmental management systems to help Australian industries. One such example is the work she pioneered in Australia’s fishing industry. In 1999 Australia was the first country to achieve ISO 14001 in fisheries and also the first marina with ISO 14001 in the Southern Hemisphere.
