Social media helps to build a tribe

Monday, November 9th, 2009

I was dragged protesting into using Twitter.  The name made me dubious to start with but in fact it is really a useful tool in a quest to get out and get known.  In other words to build a tribe.

I have been reading a lot recently from people doubting the value of Tweeting but I disagree with them.

Sure it can take a lot of time and be an interuption if you let it.  No way will I link it to my mobile phone.

BUT my Google Analytics tell me that Twitter is one of my major web traffic sources.  The real value of Twitter is good and fast online networking

When you compare this with the effort it takes to go to offline networking events  I have to say Twitter is great!

You meet and greet much faster and without any indigestion or sore feet from wearing “good” shoes.  Because I link my blog to Twitter, people get to hear more about me than if I meet them personally.

Go Twitter!
